This course is currently offered in Italian only
Over five two-hour weekly sessions, we teach you what to look for in a glass of wine, and how to describe what you see, smell, and taste.
To give you a better understanding of what you are drinking, we take a look at how grapes turn into wine. And we take you on a discovery tour of Italy’s unparalleled diversity of grapes, regions and winemaking styles.
Each session will give you an in-depth understanding of some of the key wine tasting and evaluation techniques that professionals use to score wines for guide books, magazines and international competitions.
With a relaxed but lively rhythm that keeps all your senses alert throughout the session, we alternate between theory and practice, so you can put to work what you have just learned through the actual tastings that take up a good part of the time we spend together.
The four to six wines we taste each evening are specially selected to cover major grape varieties, wine producing areas and wine making styles, while at the same time exercising your wine tasting skills.
We also teach you how to decipher the sometimes rather confusing labels on Italian wine bottles and dauntingly complex wine lists in restaurants.
Please note that in order to fully benefit from this course you will need a good working knowledge of Italian, as this is the primary teaching language. If you do not feel confident about your level of Italian comprehension, we suggest you consider one of our WSET Award courses, which are held in English.
